What is Tamanu Oil?
Tamanu oil is an intensely healing oil derived from the seeds of the tamanu nut tree, a tropical evergreen native to Southeast Asia and used medicinally for centuries by people in Asia, Africa, and Pacific Islands.
It has long been applied topically on skin as well as mucous membranes as a cure to all kinds of infections (burns, dermatoses, eczema, acne, psoriasis, chilblains, skin cracks, diabetic sores, hemorrhoids, etc.) and known for its wound healing and analgesic properties.
Like one would expect traditional medicine to be, tamanu oil has a distinct greenish hue, accompanied by a thick consistency with an earthy and walnut-ty scent.
Fun Fact: To obtain Tamanu oil, the tamanu tree nut is cracked, seeds are removed and sun-dried for up to 2 months, allowing the oil to accumulate in the seeds. Then the seeds are de-shelled and pressed to extract the oil.
Warning! If you are allergic to nuts, shy away from tamanu oil infused products as it is derived from a tree nut. If you are one who is paranoid about clogged pores, tamanu oil is slightly comedogenic, however, it helps in battling acne and acne scars given its numerous beneficial properties.

Rich in Fatty Acids: Monounsaturated acid - oleic acid (20% - 26%) & polyunsaturated acid - linoleic acid (21% - 29%) are found in tamanu oil. As well has high concentrations of alpha-linoleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and arachidonic acid, making it an intense moisturizer and skin protectant.
