Ingredients Spotlight: Plum Oil

Plums are in! The superfruit has higher antioxidants than super plants such as kale, blueberries, and spinach thanks to its high phenolic content - mostly anthocyanins. It is said that plums show promising results for their anti-inflammatory, and memory-boosting properties. In fact, dried plums are packed with fatty acids, polyphenols, and a cocktail of vitamins. The delectable super fruit is also a superstar in the skincare world.

So, What is Plum Oil?
Plum oil, also known as plum seed or plum kernel oil is a cold-pressed beauty oil extracted from plums that are wildly cultivated in Turkey and the southwestern region of France. It is a prized carrier oil in body, skin, and hair care, suitable for all skin types due to its vitamin-rich, highly nourishing, and absorbable properties. Plum oil alone, when applied topically is extremely light yet nutritious, leaving skin moisturized without any greasy or sticky feel. Plum Oil is rich in Polyphenols, Oleic Acid, Linoleic Acid, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin E.
We can spend hours raving about plum oil and its endless benefits, but the rundown is that it is an emollient hydrator with anti-inflammatory properties that effectively brightens and plumps the skin, aids in cellular repair, sebum production, and skin turnover whilst protecting against radical damages. Did we mention that it has an absolute divine fruity, almond scent? And for those who might not like the scent, the good news is that this natural scent fades away rather quickly while its benefits carry on.

At Oil Divine, we know the wonders that plum oil can do, so we have added it to our Lip Retreat Oil, a lip treatment that hydrates and nourishes soft and supple lips. Unlike the lip treatments out there that are often petroleum-based, our oil is made of a proprietary blend of plant based oils in an eco-friendly yet premium glass bottle.
